Harrison College Dominates the 2025 Co-operators General Insurance NSC U19 Basketball Finals
The 2025 Co-operators General Insurance NSC Under-19 Basketball League Finals delivered a spectacular end to the season, with Harrison College (HC) reclaiming the championship title in an exciting showdown against rivals Queens College (QC). Before a lively crowd and an electric atmosphere, Harrison College secured an impressive 84–67 win, solidifying their position as one of the most dominant forces in secondary school basketball in Barbados.
Entering the finals with determination and discipline, Harrison College executed their game plan with precision. Their offensive firepower was led by Isaac Griffith, who delivered a standout 29-point performance, earning him the prestigious title of Finals MVP.
Supporting him was the ever-consistent Jelani Marshall, who contributed 15 points and was awarded League MVP for his exceptional leadership and season-long excellence. Team captain Walton Yarbrough added 16 points, helping to secure HC’s momentum throughout the match.
This victory marks a significant comeback for HC, who fell short in last year’s final. The win not only highlights their improvement but also reaffirms their legacy of strong basketball development.
Despite the loss, Queens College demonstrated why they remain one of the top basketball programmes in the island.
Last year’s U19 champions put up a strong fight behind standout scorer Zane Gaskin, who matched Griffith with 29 points of his own. Rhys Cozier added 18 points, giving QC multiple offensive sparks throughout the game.
Their resilience speaks to a growing rivalry between the two powerhouse schools—one that continues to elevate the level of youth basketball across Barbados.
The league also recognized several exceptional athletes who showcased elite skill, growth, and sportsmanship throughout the competition:
Jelani Marshall (Harrison College) – League MVP
Isaac Griffith (Harrison College) – Finals MVP
Rhys Cozier (Queens College)
Zane Gaskin (Queens College)
Darreon Griffith (Barbados Community College)

Such matchups are essential to the growth of youth basketball, pushing teams to higher levels of preparation, teamwork, and strategy.
With the National Sports Council continuing to invest in grassroots programmes, school leagues, and youth development, the standard of play among young Barbadian basketballers continues to rise each year.
