The National Sports Council (NSC) is inviting boys and girls aged 8 to 14 to take part in the Basketball Development Programme 2026, a free initiative designed to introduce young people to the fundamentals of basketball while promoting physical activity, teamwork, and confidence.
Hosted at Springer Memorial School, the programme runs every Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon and is open to beginners and developing players alike.
The NSC Basketball Development Programme focuses on building strong foundations in the sport. Participants are guided through essential basketball skills such as:
Dribbling and ball control
Passing and shooting techniques
Defensive positioning
Game awareness and teamwork
Qualified coaches ensure sessions are age-appropriate, engaging, and inclusive, making it an ideal environment for children who are trying basketball for the first time or looking to sharpen their skills.
One of the standout features of the NSC Basketball Development Programme is that it is completely free, removing barriers to entry and ensuring all children have the opportunity to participate. Whether a child dreams of competitive basketball or simply wants to stay active, this programme provides the perfect starting point.
Parents and guardians are encouraged to register their children and allow them to experience the excitement of basketball in a structured and positive setting.
