The National Sports Council has been charged with the important task of developing sports in Barbados from the primary level to supporting national athletes at the international level and the community, thanks to the expertise of the coaches of the Council and funding through the Barbados Lottery.

To this end, the Council has and will continue to create and implement community programmes, engage children at the primary and secondary level and continue to fund our elite, high performance, developing and emerging athletes, in an effort to develop these individuals and bring honour and pride to our country, Barbados.

Through the years, we have experienced challenges, which include a global pandemic and economic recessions, but through it all the National Sports Council has been able to persevere and continue to push the Government of Barbados’ mandate of propelling sport to the highest level.
